COVID-19: President Director's message – 17 April 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

I refer to my note to you dated 19 March. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect people and business all around the world. Our prayers go out to the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event. And a big Thank You to all the unsung heroes in the frontlines in Indonesia and over the world who are quietly battling to save lives and contain this coronavirus.

We know that you rely on us for your banking transactions and I would like to confirm that HSBC Indonesia continues to provide regular banking services to you and to our other customers. We encourage you to use internet or mobile banking to perform your banking transactions, and we also have our team of Relationship managers and customer service staff to support you for any queries you might have. Please visit us here or contact your Relationship Manager. Also, while we encourage our customers to use digital channels, if you do need to visit a branch, we have designated branches open to support you.

Aligned with the guidelines from POJK on National Economic Stimulus as Countercyclical Covid-19 impact, HSBC Indonesia is delighted to offer assistance to customers facing financial difficulties owing to Covid-19 issues. We have a number of initiatives for our customers, for Wealth and Personal Banking customers, please visit us here. And for Commercial Banking and Global Banking customers, please visit us here.

We are humbled and proud to contribute in our own little way to Indonesia’s Covid-19 relief efforts. Last week, HSBC acted as a Joint Bookrunner and Joint Lead Manager for Republic of Indonesia’s historic SEC-Registered $4.3B debt issuance to help fund Covid-19 relief and recovery efforts for Indonesia. This is the largest ever debt issuance by the Government of Indonesia, and the first ever 50Y issuance from South East Asia. We are privileged to be associated with this.

HSBC has recently announced a US$25 million COVID-19 charitable fund to support the international medical response, protect vulnerable people and ensure food security. In addition, we are donating over $575K in Indonesia specifically to help

  • In providing PPE & other medical response
  • Help Indonesia’s vulnerable communities in various areas of Indonesia
  • provide education and awareness on hygiene and social distancing
  • Helping small businesses and farmers to ensure food security

On behalf of HSBC Indonesia, I thank you for your trust. We are fully committed to supporting you during these challenging times.

Stay safe.
